On October 27 - 28, 2022, the First Eurasian Forum "COMMONWEALTH WITHOUT BORDERS" was held in Almaty (the Republic of Kazakhstan).

 

Countries participating in the Forum: Republic of Kazakhstan, Russian Federation, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Armenia, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

The purpose of the event was to create a single platform for the exchange of experience between scientists and medical specialists of the participating countries, as well as representatives of legislative and executive authorities for the sake of patients with orphan diseases.

 

During the Forum, the participants had the opportunities to get acquainted with the latest achievements in the field of diagnosis and treatment of orphan diseases, learn from the practical experience of the healthcare organizers of the participating countries on early detection of diseases and drug provision of patients with orphan diseases.

 

Within the framework of the Forum, the following activities were held:

  • sections on the exchange of experience in the organization of interdisciplinary interactions between medical and genetic services of the countries participating in the Forum;
  • session on digital technologies and cross-consultations with specialists in the EAEU countries, on the possibilities of instrumental methods of examination in the practice of medical geneticists;
  • discussion sessions with the representatives of public authorities of the EAEU countries on the prospects of interstate cooperation to improve medical care for patients with orphan diseases;
  • round table discussions on the availability of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation programs for patients with orphan diseases in the EAEU countries;
  • sessions on the organization and implementation of prenatal and neonatal screening;
  • workshops from leading specialists on the examination of patients with hereditary diseases.

The following specialists participated in the work of the Forum: medical geneticists, neonatologists, pediatricians, ophthalmologists, cardiologists, orthopedic traumatologists, therapists, rheumatologists, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, neurologists, pulmonologists, child psychiatrists, health care organizers, as well as representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of the participating countries.

 

The Forum resulted in the creation of the Eurasian Association of Medical Geneticists (EAMG).

 

 

The organization aims to create international scientific programs for the diagnosis, clinical research and treatment of orphan genetic diseases.

 

The main purpose of the creation of the Association is the development of international research, scientific, practical and educational projects with the participation of healthcare professionals and scientists from the countries of the Euro-Asian region, as well as the EAEU, SCO, ASEAN and BRICS for the sake of patients with orphan genetic diseases.
